- Biography
a Norwegian playwright and theatre director. As one of the founders of modernism in theatre, Ibsen is often referred to as "the father of realism" and one of the most influential playwrights of his time. From Wikipedia
It was noted in the introduction of Peer Gynt that when writing this play, the Bible was the only book he had in is Italian retreat. Medium says that Ibsen's background was Lutheran. But then it hints that as Ibsen aged, his Biblical references get fewer and more obscure.
